Bees, Books, and Bright Futures
November 25, 2024
This month has been filled with growth, accomplishments, and new opportunities for the children and staff at B Loved Ethiopia.
Academic Achievements
All B Loved children are attending school regularly and doing well with their studies. Out of seven Addis Ababa students who took the university entrance exam, six passed! Abraham and Tekalign have started their freshman year at Addis Ababa University, Bereket is attending Arbaminch University, and Abadi has successfully transferred to Addis Ababa University.
We love our library and being able to share it with the community. We had 50 customers this past month and have even received some new books recently from donations.
Basic Needs and Encouragement
Because of your generous donations and sponsorships, essential support, including food, clothing, and shelter, continues for all children. A recent highlight was the excitement of receiving new shoes!
Special visits from church members and volunteers, like Dr. Tsion Habtamu, inspire the kids to remain focused on their studies.
Family and Community Bonding
The children from Sodo visited their Addis Ababa siblings, spending quality time together as one big family. Meanwhile, David and Amie organized a gathering that united children from Sodo and Bishoftu for fun visits and community-building activities.
Projects and Challenges
Sodo’s soccer field project is underway, though additional funding is needed to complete the grass covering. In Bishoftu, progress continues on construction tasks such as tiling, window installations, and gypsum work. Beekeeping has also been launched with ten hives now active, promising both nutritious honey and income generation.
Agriculture and Sustainability
The farming initiative in Bishoftu thrives, producing vegetables and wheat to support holistic child care. This month, the wheat crop is ready for harvest, marking another step forward in sustainability efforts.
These updates reflect our unwavering commitment to empowering children and fostering community, education, and self-sufficiency. Thank you for being part of this journey!
