Faith Over Fear

Like you and other people around the world, we are trying to navigate our new normal here in Ethiopia. Due to fear of spreading COVID-19 all schools are closed. We wanted to think of a way to encourage the kids and keep their health top priority, so we began a “health competition” where the kids participated in various challenges and games. Everyone enjoyed this activity and there were even prizes awarded to the highest scorers!

B Loved staff and group home moms are providing psychological support to the kids to help prevent fear from the current circumstances and everyone has been advised to stay home. Musical instruments are in the group homes to help kids relax and reduce stress. The older children were also given informal life skill training on planning and how to manage their time effectively during these critical times of staying at home.
The head office staff, project director, social workers, and nurse were all given health education and tips for virus prevention to pass along to the group homes. Every home was given extra detergents, sanitizers, and masks. B Loved also gave a donation to government officials to offer support for destitute people in the community who cannot afford the necessary sanitation items they need to try to stay well.
This past month the kids were all given support to buy new clothes. The older kids were able to go to a local shop and pick out their own clothes to help give them more responsibility. They enjoyed the experience!
We have held frequent bible studies and have been praying together more often during these difficult times. It’s important that we put all of our faith and trust in God.
