Renewing Strength

November 5, 2019

Adjusting to a New School

The children who have started school in Addis Ababa have been adapting to the new curriculum and new group home environment. The staff has maintained strong communication with the school’s administration and teachers and the children’s school performance has been checked every day to ensure they have the support they need. We have also provided tutorial programs to assist with difficult subjects and homework where needed and held a group discussion to talk about how to overcome school challenges. Attending a new school can be overwhelming and takes time to adjust so we are dedicated to making sure these kids have both academic and emotional support to be successful.

Life Skill Training

We want to ensure that the children are supported and educated in all areas, including how to deal with emotions that arise from day to day life. Various group discussions were held with the staff to learn more about how to help the children with time management, managing stress, resolving disagreements, coping with new environment and others. From the staff’s feedback, it has been observed that children have benefited from this coaching in many ways.

Spiritual Support

All the children are getting spiritual support based on their age group by the B Loved staff and invited guest. Every evening all the group homes have a regular family devotion time. The moms and aunts also receive separate spiritual support to strengthen their relationship with God and the children. The regular devotion of the staff has been playing a huge role in uniting us together for the organizational vision and for the Kingdom of God.

Strengthening Confidence

It’s important to us that every member of the B Loved family is getting the assistance and attention they need, especially the group home moms who are caring for the children. A meeting was held with the group home moms to help motivate and encourage them. They played indoor games, related to one another with their concerns or struggles, and spent good quality time together. We want the moms to be happy and know how important and special their role is so they can love their job and do the best of their ability. They plan to meet once a week for reflection, encouragement and to strengthen each other.

With the help of God and your contribution, we are carrying out our mission and providing love and a hopeful future to many. Thank you for your support!
