Rising Higher: B Loved’s Latest Achievements
March 5, 2025

It has been a while since our last update, and we are excited to share all the incredible progress and achievements from the past few months that have us rising higher.
Alex’s Athletic Triumph
One of the most inspiring stories this month comes from Alemayehu Belete (Alex), a dedicated young athlete in our Bishoftu under-16 athletics program. With access to essential training, coaching, and mentorship, Alex’s hard work has paid off—he secured 2nd place in the Oromia Regional State under-16 athletics competition and was selected for the Oromia Athletics Federation. His journey is a testament to perseverance and dedication, serving as an inspiration for his younger siblings.
Education
All B Loved children in Addis Ababa, Sodo, and Bishoftu have been diligently attending school, with most completing their first semester. Our university students are also progressing well.
Christmas Celebration
The Christmas season was a time of joy across all B Loved group homes, with festive meals, decorations, and creative activities fostering a sense of family and belonging.
Vision Sharing & Monitoring Visit
At our Sodo project, staff participated in an annual vision-sharing session, reinforcing our mission and core values. The National Human Rights Commission also conducted a monitoring visit, interviewing children, caregivers, and social workers. Their feedback was positive, with minor recommendations, such as increasing tutorial support and vocational training opportunities.
Bishoftu Center Construction
Exciting progress has been made in building the B Loved Ethiopia Holistic Center for Child Care and Youth Empowerment in Bishoftu. Recent developments include:
- Ceramic tile installation
- Aluminum work for windows and doors
- Electric cable installation
- Gypsum plastering
- Sanitation and drainage line installation
Farming & Sustainability
- Dairy Farming: Our dairy farms in Sodo and Bishoftu produced a significant amount of milk, supporting children’s nutrition while also contributing to market sales.
- Horticulture & Vegetable Farming: Regular vegetable harvests in Sodo help offset rising food costs and ensure fresh produce.
- Poultry Farming: Improved feeding and vitamin supplements have led to increased egg production, strengthening our self-sufficiency efforts.
Challenges
Despite inflation challenges affecting budgeting and resource allocation, we continue to prioritize effective resource management to sustain our programs.
