Sodo Annual Event and Baptism Celebration
In July 2024, Sodo hosted its annual church event, where children gathered for a week of spiritual enrichment. A highlight of the week was the baptism of Robel Mukerem, one of B Loved Sodo boys, on July 21st. The church ministers prayed for the children's spiritual growth, and the presence of the US team, who had traveled to Ethiopia to visit, made the occasion even more special. Children from B Loved’s Addis and Bishoftu centers were brought to Sodo and they spent quality time with the 12 visiting team members.
Sodo Summer Camp 2024
B Loved Ethiopia's Sodo project conducted its annual Summer Camp, a cherished program during the rainy season. In July, volunteers were given orientation on the camp's diverse activities, which included life skills training, reading practice, talent development, sports, agricultural activities, exploring new places, planting seedlings, hiking, and Bible study.
Welcoming New Children and Recognizing Achievements
On July 31st, three orphans and vulnerable children were admitted to B Loved Ethiopia Sodo group homes: Natnaiel Tamrat (6 years old), Selamu Tamrat (5 years old), and Netsanet (13 years old). We are so happy to welcome them into our family.
The community also celebrated the academic achievements of four children who were recognized for their hard work and progress, with the entire B Loved family participating in the festivities.
Agricultural Progress and Dairy Farm Update
The Sodo center has started producing vegetables to benefit the group home children. Six types of edible plants were planted, with cabbage and banana already being used for group home meals. The dairy farm produced 867 liters of milk this month, with some provided to the children and calves, and the rest sold at the market.
Supporting Internally Displaced People (IDP)
In Debrebirhan Town, B Loved Foundation supported 27,000 internally displaced people (IDP) across three camps. The foundation provided paraffin, dishes, and mats for vulnerable children, amounting to approximately 100,000 ETB.
Bishoftu Center Achievements
In Bishoftu, all B Loved children successfully completed the academic year and were promoted to the next grade. A special dinner event was organized to celebrate these milestones, with awards given to high achievers. Notably, Kalu Chali graduated from KG, ranking first with an average of 98.1 points!
Mission Team Visit
A mission team from the United States visited Ethiopia for 7 days, engaging with children in Addis Ababa, Sodo, and Bishoftu. The team brought things to play with and toys, and were able to spend meaningful time with the B Loved children and create lasting memories.
Holistic Children’s Care and Youth Empowerment Center
The construction of the Holistic Children’s Care and Youth Empowerment Center in Bishoftu made significant progress this period. The blocking work is underway, enclosing the building, while gypsum work is ongoing in several sections. Additionally, temporary toilet construction has begun, marking important milestones in this key initiative.
This summer has been a season of growth, celebration, and community building for B Loved Ethiopia. The dedication of our volunteers, the support from international teams, and the achievements of our children continue to inspire and uplift our mission. Thank you for your continued partnership!
